About HeadEast

HeadEast is a community based service for people with an acquired brain injury (ABI) and their families, living in the Eastern Sydney area. It opened in 1996 and is currently funded by the NSW Department of Ageing, Disability and Home Care.

The service assists people with an acquired brain injury to develop fulfilling, self directed and independent lifestyles. HeadEast does this by providing individual support to assist people to identify and create opportunities to improve their access to a variety of activities and resources in their community. Optional group programs that focus on skill development are also offered.

HeadEast Management Committee

HeadEast is a registered charity operated by a voluntary Management Committee elected by members of the organisation. The Management Committee is responsible for overseeing the operations and activities of the organisation, making sure it fulfils its objectives within its approved annual budget and in accordance with its policies and procedures. This includes legal, financial, personnel, planning and policy, reporting and accountability responsibilities.

The Management Committee is comprised of the following positions:
  • Chairperson
  • Vice Chairperson
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer/ Public officer
  • Two Client Representatives
  • Up to six other Management Committee members
